Domestic manufacturers have produced a large number of graphite heat exchangers. Manufacturers in various countries use different binders, so graphite heat exchangers can handle some special media.
In order to improve the corrosion resistance of graphite heat exchangers, phenolic composite resin has been studied. Since the 1970s, many domestic companies have started to produce PVC profiled graphite tubes used to manufacture tubular graphite heat exchangers. Some glass fibers have also been used to fill graphite to improve its strength.
In addition, phenolic resin electrodes are prepared by mixing crude coke with coal tar pitch, extruding, roasting, graphitizing, impregnating and machining. The graphite materials prepared by this method have high strength and good heat transfer properties, and can be used to prepare large-size, large heat transfer area of block-hole type or tubular graphite heat exchangers, but the production cycle is long, the cost is high, and the base material is thick.
The application of this technology is quite popular around the world and has been largely eliminated. At present, most of the graphite heat exchangers in China are produced by process. Artificial graphite particles mixed with coal tar pitch, vibration molding, baking, resin impregnation, processing and assembly. The production cost is much lower than one or two technical routes.
Graphite high strength, stable quality, especially graphite electrode shortage. Graphite heat exchanger manufacturers use this process to produce block graphite heat exchanger. Petroleum coke (particle size 0.1-0.2 mm) mixed with coal tar pitch, crushed, ground, molded, roasted, graphitized, resin impregnated and assembled by machining.
